New function in AUDITION EVERYDAY: Keyword Search
This is Taniguchi.
How are you doing everyone? It’s very hot every day in Japan.
Now, 547 artists are using AUDITION EVERYDAY page.
It’s so happy that the number of users increases, but at the same time it’s getting difficult to search, so we added a new function “Keyword Search.”
Users can search favorite artists easily by keywords.
digmeout decided keywords for every artist, who already asked audition or uploaded full 12 works, by our original interpretation.
Artists can’t enter keywords by themselves.
Keywords are decided by a variety of viewpoints:
- Subject (girl, scenery, animals, etc)
- Style (line drawing, watercolors, collage, etc)
- Atmosphere (humor, mysterious, heartwarming, etc)
If your page isn’t given any keywords although you already uploaded 12 works; or you want other keywords for it, please tell me about it at info@digmeout.net.
I hope that audition requests will increase more.
Keep it up, everyone. Enjoy! :D

He is already professional and has been illustrating for music magazines.
He is so reliable in interpretation of things, and I hope we can see his new side in digmeout.

ARTEE T-shirts Mirei version>>
Next, here is about danny.
- danny
Born in Okayama, Japan, 1987.
Student of Kyoto Seika University (Illustration course in Dept. of Visual Design)
She has been fascinated by color pencils since she was a junior high school student and will love to use them from now on.
The theme of her artworks is “ecology.” With color pencils, she simply expresses ordinary things like nature and people’s casual motions. In childhood, she often went to mountain climbing with her father, she likes mountains and hiking.
She was promoted from AUDITION EVERYDAY.
She majors in illustration now.
We had a meeting in digmeout ART & DINER,
and right away she was promoted.
Her artworks are really mild and delicate.
She has a great sense in writing too.
She is interested in ecology movement.
I’m already thinking some jobs for her.
Now so many artists use the AUDITION EVERYDAY page.
Thank you so much :)
We are checking carefully your entry every day. We are so serious.
So far, 5 artists join RECOMMEND ARTIST. Everybody, follow them!

Here are the photos of opening reception!
I uploaded the photos of
the opening reception at
“digmeout EXHIBITION 2008”
held in Ginza Sony Building.
The very big poster featuring
Hatsuki Miyahara’s illustration is
displayed in the
Sukiyabashi Crossing, Ginza.
It’s amazingly attractive (PHOTO 1).
Many people dropped in the building
by the poster.
We could have over 500 friends,
the press, and artists there.
Drinks run out in an hour… sorry!
In the crowd, I gave an opening
greeting and introduced 12 artists.
Thank you everyone visiting us
– clients, agencies, ARTEE staffs,
staffs of HPF Gallery,
staffs of galleries in Ginza,
DJs of FM802,
staffs of magazines (“illustration”,
“STUDIO VOICE,” and other art magazines),
lots of artists bringing their portfolios,
Matt and his party from Portland,
and Hideki Kaji (Japanese musician).
It was a really lively night!
The exhibition in Ginza will be over
on this Sunday, Apr.20.
I hope many artists will bring their portfolios.
Be ready for the exhibition in Osaka!
It’s going to be more exciting,
because it’s hometown of digmeout :D
2008.4.13
Exhibit started in Tokyo!
Yesterday, a greater number of people came to the
opening reception than last year. Thank you so much.
It was so lively as drinks run out halfway!
I think there were about 300 visitors.
We couldn’t get good pictures so much…
I took a picture of the party from behind Ms. Saito (Sony).
From today, we are checking your portfolios on this and next Sat. and Sun.
Please bring your portfolios a lot from 3 p.m.
I promise to check everything carefully, so please.
2008.4.9
Please bring your portfolios! OPENING PARTY TONIGHT!
ARTSTREAM RIVERPLACE FM802 AWARD:
Group Exhibition of Tomo Nakanishi,HITO and Tomoko Kanzaki
In “ARTSTREAM 2007,” an event held at Suntory Museum in Tempozan
Harbor Village, Osaka, 3 artists won the FM802 award.
They will hold the group exhibition in digmeout ART&DINER.
Well,I’m going to introduce them.
Tomo Nakanishi draws naked girls with delicate colors and pointillism.
Around the “secret part” of girls’ body, something like mist is floating.
It’s erotic, but it’s innocent too.
She uploads her illustrations on “AUDITION EVERYDAY” and updates
actively.
The works are getting better every time I check. Maybe girls get beautiful by
being watched? :)
Please look forward to seeing her show.
HITO draws simple pictures rich in atmosphere. Color, lines, and space
– everything is thought out.
She leaves perfect white spaces. There are a little tension and full of tenderness.
I like her mini picture book “Megane” and hope she will sell it in the exhibit.
Tomoko Kanzaki is a printmaker (mainly mimeograph). She has good
knowledge of art. She uses Japanese traditional motifs like BONSAI (dwarf
trees), Japanese gardens, and ceramics, to express “wabi-sabi” (kind
of Japanese traditional sense of elegance) with the style of collage.
Her style of collage reminds me of Robert Rauschenberg’s combine paintings.
In the exhibit, film works will be displayed too.
You can enjoy three different types of art. Please visit digmeout ART&DINER.
TONIGHT!!
Opening reception: Apr. 9 (Wed.) from 7 p.m.
Please bring your portfolios!
Because “ARTSTREAM” itself is the event for young artists, maybe in the
reception we can meet a lot of artists.
During the reception, I will check your portfolios. Please come to
digmeout ART&DINER with your portfolios from 7 p.m.!

About photographs
I was very busy yesterday, so I hoped many artists were waiting for my
comment in AUDITION EVERYDAY.
However, there were only five people.
Only five? I want more! Come on.
By the way, recently the entry of photographers is increasing.
Of course, we will make comments on photographs too, but the evaluation
will be more severe than that for illustration and drawing.
Nowadays, almost all Japanese are “photographer” already because cell
phones have the function of camera.
Many people release the shutter everyday and upload their photos on their
blogs.
Among these people, if you want to be popular as a professional photographer,
you should try hard and make all possible efforts.
Well, most beginners take a zoo, the sky, or the neighborhood first.
Many photographers have photos like that in their portfolios.
I have checked so many pictures of the zoo and the red sky at sundown.
Of course, it’s OK as just your hobby.
However, if you publish them as artworks, you should make them as
no one has ever seen.
If not, they are just personal memory or record.
Why do I choose this photo? Is this scenery really good? Time, lighting,
exposure, printing… Is this really OK?
There is clear difference according as whether a photograph was finished
on good consideration or not.
If you say “I don’t have any techniques, but I’m taking pictures with my
feeling,” you will be faced with the limit soon.
If you want to take professional photos, you must learn basic techniques
at least.
Please check the newest work of digmeout’s recommend artist, Yoshiro
Masuda, and be surprised!
His eyes catch the whorls of lights in Dotonbori, Osaka. It’s so professional.
He went out again and again to find the location where exactly
he wanted to take.
He maybe got this perfect light after many tests and adjusting a tripod
accurately.
I can feel the perfect tension and beauty.
This is “original.”
Yoshiro, you made a masterpiece again!
…Oh, did I praise you too much? :D
In his website, there are some pictures of a zoo. (In the page of “P3”)
Please check them and feel how they differ from yours.
Yoshiro Masuda’s website>>
He will hold exhibits in Australia. I hope he can
get a high valuation there too.
Great photographers, who have extraordinary eyes, please follow him.
Please upload your photos soon.
I wish you dug out by us.
2008.4.3
Kenta Kakikawa joined digmeout as RECOMMEND ARTIST.
This is the photos of Kenta Kakikawa and his works.
Our staff found him before in the FREE LINKS page of the former digmeout website.
I made contact with him and told that let’s hold a meeting.
Then, he visited us in the reception yesterday from his hometown Fukuoka.
His artworks are all pen drawings.
They are like kind of street art, but from the motif of bird and fish, I feel he has the sense of Scandinavian crafts too.
The level of his works is extraordinary!
Well, the person himself is a man of soft and gentle character :)
He first heard about digmeout from the staff of Dalahästcafé when I visited Fukuoka in WINGROAD JAPAN TOUR last year.
Please check here for Kenta Kakikawa’s works>>
Now he is creating film works too.
I’m thinking to provide him the opportunity to hold solo exhibit in digmeout ART&DINER when he gets large works ready.
I think his works are good for silk screen too.
Keep it up, Kenta!
2008.4.3
So many artists visited digmeout ART&DINER yesterday.
Thank you everyone yesterday.
We enjoyed a lively night with many artists bringing their portfolios.
Tokyo, Fukuoka, America, Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto… Everyone acts in
different areas, but I like an atmosphere of everyone bringing their
artworks, having critiques, talking seriously, coming up with ideas,
and bringing something back.
There were also Mr. Fujiwara (REENAL by Resona Bank),
the art director Mr. Imai (deluxe), and other agencies’ staffs. In such
atmosphere, something will start from “Wow, it’s nice!”
Tonight, I felt again that our project was very organic and couldn’t
begin from long meetings or formal presentation like “The plan A is…”
I found a powerful artist today.
The artist will be in RECOMMEND ARTIST soon.
Makiko Kishino’s solo exhibit made a good start.
Some pictures were already sold.
Also, her illustrations will be used in Japanese TV drama program
on this Friday. Don’t miss it.
In the exhibit, you can get the original art book of
“WINGROAD×digmeout JAPAN TOUR” for free.
It’s a really beautiful book as you can’t believe it’s free!
It’s really valuable to get it.
